Lewis County sheriff plans re-election bid

Carpinelli

LOWVILLE — Lewis County Sheriff Michael P. Carpinelli said his deputies won’t be patrolling county bars to enforce state social distancing and mask mandates, despite a request from the governor to do just that.

During a press briefing last Friday, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo asked local governments to help enforce social distancing, mask compliance and other restrictions on restaurants and bars. The request comes as eateries across the state have been caught violating those regulations.

There is a public health crisis! Who you gonna call? The health department, then pull the business license.

People who refuse to wear masks are violating others' right to breathe clean air. A person not wearing a mask could very well have the coronavirus, and is spreading it to others whenever he opens his mouth. The Ambitious-but-Unqualified Sheriff should consider that amid his dreams of running NY State.

If this is the stance this so called elected servant of the people choses to take he deserves only one thing. To be removed from office forthwith. He is dangerous.

Sheriff’s don’t have the manpower to enforce symbolic laws... Good call Sheriff.

rockloper

They've got more than enough manpower and time to do this. It just means they'll have to make more steps and push themselves out of their patrol car more often and not just observe from the comfort of their patrolcars.

This guy sounds like a jailhouse lawyer.

rockloper

He's just had his ego stroked too many times by too few a people.

Pitbull

This guy has serious guts and will run for governor in 2022. I'd like to hear this same message from the other two tri-county sheriffs (Jeff and SL). Well-stated sherriff!

rockloper

He won't stand a chance of being elected governor - not a chance. As to the other two sheriffs, they've got some brains.

Hoosier

I believe good ole Carpy stands a good chance!

Eagle24

Assume then you've written a check to his campaign... and if Lewis county doesn't feel they need to support Cuomo, then they don't need any state support as well...

Hoosier

Not yet but I plan to give him a substantial donation.

Don't think for a minute that the "Popular Deputies" won't ticket you or hand out a DWI in a heart beat to score points though. They still want to look good to the Boss who is a Cuomo hater.

rockloper

And although admitting mistakes, Cuomo is head and shoulders above any other governors in covid response.

Please forward the link to Prince Andrew's apology regarding his March 25th edict that nursing homes must accept infected people. There hasn't been one. I dont think he's capable.
